Process & Welded Piping Fabrication

Shop and field fabrication in carbon steel, stainless and copper — process, utility and specialty gas systems, documented and tested.

Overview

Process piping is where mechanical contracting stops being about comfort. A therapeutic manufacturer's WFI loop, a laboratory's chilled process water, a plant's compressed air and vacuum, a research facility's specialty gases — all have cleanliness, material, documentation and testing requirements that a commercial HVAC crew is not equipped for.

CMI fabricates and installs process piping in carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and specialty materials, with orbital and GTAW welding for sanitary and high-purity work, and documented weld procedures qualified to ASME Section IX. Systems are built to ASME B31.1, B31.3 and B31.9 as the application requires, with weld maps, material traceability, passivation and testing records.

Our shop does the heavy lifting. Spools, skids, headers, pump assemblies and manifolds are fabricated, cleaned and pressure tested in controlled conditions, then delivered and set in the field. Owners get shorter site durations, less hot work in occupied buildings, and better weld quality than any field-only approach can produce.

Questions owners ask

Process & Welded Piping — straight answers

Do you have certified welders for stainless and sanitary work?
Yes — GTAW and orbital-qualified welders working to procedures qualified under ASME Section IX, with qualification records provided as part of the submittal and closeout package.
Can you fabricate skids and headers off site?
That is our preference. Shop fabrication gives better weld quality, controlled cleanliness and pressure testing before delivery, and it dramatically shortens field time in an operating facility.
Do you handle seismic bracing and OSHPD requirements?
Yes. Healthcare work in California requires HCAI/OSHPD pre-approved restraint systems and inspection coordination, and our field crews and detailers are experienced with both.
