
Indoor Air Quality & Ventilation Upgrades
Filtration, outside air and exhaust upgrades that meet ASHRAE 170 and 62.1 — verified with airflow and pressure documentation.
Air quality work is only credible when it is measured. CMI approaches IAQ as an engineering scope: measure the outside air actually delivered, the exhaust actually removed, filter loading against fan capacity, and the pressure relationships between spaces — then upgrade what the data says is deficient and document the result.
Typical scope includes filtration upgrades to MERV 13/14/15 or HEPA with fan and static pressure analysis, outside air economizer and damper repair, dedicated outside air systems, exhaust and make-up air corrections, humidity control and dehumidification, UV-C and bipolar ionization where appropriate, duct cleaning coordination, and CO2 demand-control ventilation tied into the BAS.
For healthcare and therapeutic facilities, we work to ASHRAE 170 and CDPH requirements: air changes per hour, positive and negative pressure rooms, isolation and protective environment rooms, pharmacy compounding suites under USP 797/800, procedure and sterile processing areas. Every upgrade leaves a verification report you can hand to a surveyor.

IAQ & Ventilation Upgrades — straight answers
- Can our existing air handler carry MERV 14 or HEPA filters?
- Sometimes, and sometimes not — that is exactly what we check first. We measure current static pressure and fan capacity, model the added resistance, and tell you whether the upgrade needs a fan, motor, drive or housing change to avoid starving the zones.
- Do you certify pressure relationships for isolation rooms?
- We perform and document the mechanical work and airflow verification and coordinate the independent certifier where one is required. You receive the airflow, ACH and differential-pressure documentation with the closeout package.
- Is UV-C or ionization worth installing?
- Only where filtration, outside air and pressure relationships are already correct. We will tell you plainly when a device is being sold as a substitute for ventilation that simply needs to be repaired.
